We were met by a locked door this month, but a phone call prompted an opening just as we were deciding whether to move on to the library and commandeer a few desks, or maybe do the same at Wetherspoons! We were in fact the only users this month, so all was peaceful and quiet. Bus strikes, ill health and holidays meant we were fewer than normal, perhaps just as well as Jac led us through a rather complicated but satisfying book with a hinged spine, adapted from a Paul Johnson original. Definitely not one for a Zoom meeting, but very satisfying to complete.
Next month we will be making another Paul Johnson adaptation, but this one will be a little more straightforward, hopefully.
We exchanged the usual makes, including some with the bird theme in mind, although it is due for September if you have been tempted to have a go, and there is never a time limit for our themed work. If you can’t make a meeting, feel free to send a picture.
Marilyn passed on congratulations from Mike Clements of Mbag for our Magellan scroll, featured in this month’s UWE newsletter. She has tried, so far unsuccessfully, to interest the Maritime Museum in exhibiting the work, but will keep trying.
With September comes the start of a new “term”, and hopefully we will be able to welcome all members to the Quaker Meeting house the first Saturday of each mont
