Pop up Book

We made an interesting structure adapted from a Paul Johnson original but rather simpler, and shown to us via Veronica from Marches Book Arts.

Landscape in design, the pop up structure is really useful for a book page, and can easily be adapted to a larger or smaller structure. It certainly gives perspective, and uses only a couple of pieces of paper. We all enjoyed the decorating part, and could think of various ways to use it, so a really useful session.

During the discussion that followed, several of us showed books on the 'birds' theme set by Frances, with Jac's bird box especially admired for the verbal pun. We have really enjoyed this theme, and some of us. continue working on older themes, including 'biscuit', which Joyce showed us.

Our next theme is 'travel',
possibly to be followed by 'windows'.

At our October meeting we will be making a book from
Julie's repertoire, details to follow.

Hello! (From Simon )

So, yesterday, 6th September, was the 500th anniversary of the one surviving ship from Magellan's expedition returning to Spain to end the first circumnavigation of the globe. AND, as importantly for us, our Magellan exhibition is now live on the website https://liverpoolbookart.com/ So technically we made the anniversary!!

Thanks so much for your contributions. It's been quite some 'journey' to get here, and I greatly appreciate your efforts. I hope you agree that the presentation reflects the quality of the works. Big shout of thanks to Neil Morrin of Defnet Media Projects for doing so much of the web design work.

I'll be promoting via Facebook, Instagram & other routes. The exhibition is listed in the current Book Art Newsletter & I'll be able to put a more detailed promo in the next issue. Please share the news with your own networks. Also let me know what you think (including, of course, any errors or omissions you spot).

Best wishes, & thanks again
